They Say Never Work with Children…Published: 2020-02-21 11:36
“Never work with children” is the commonly used saying, and as the father of a toddler I can appreciate the sentiment. It’s true, sometimes children don’t exactly want to do what you have asked. Worse still if it’s something “soooo boring” like, let’s say, work!
But I’m rubbishing that saying today because I have just spent an awesome day working alongside primary school children from St. Mary’s Catholic Primary School in Flintshire.
Why am I working alongside children? Before anyone makes a joke about intellectual or behavioural comparability, it was actually all to do with a new online platform we have just launched called Essity Ventures. Essity Ventures is designed for entrepreneurs and start-ups to pitch their ideas, inventions and business proposals to Essity. It’s a bit like Dragon’s Den but specifically aimed at those operating in the hygiene and health industry. We thought it would make great video content to challenge children from several different year groups to invent the future of hygiene and health and tell us about their ideas on camera. They did not disappoint!
We had a cleaning robot that does pretty much everything, a flu app that tells you if you are unwell and what products to buy to make you better, a tissue box that sounds an alarm when you sneeze reminding you to grab a tissue, and a foot pedal that means you don’t have to touch door handles in public places with your hands and risk picking up germs. That last one was invented by 5 young Liverpool fans but I won’t hold that against them.
